Hill Byre, Barrow on Trent

This was our first time staying at Hill Byre and it didn’t disappoint at all. The grounds are clean and tidy, and there is a shower block and toilets available if you wanted to use them rather than your own, and the land owner was around if you needed anything. On arrival at the site we were met by our marshal for the weekend John, who gave us a choice of places to pitch, and after a bit of messing about with some blocks and chucks the van was in place, (thank you to John for the use of his blocks and valued assistance). We were later arriving on the Friday night due to other arrangements, so it was a quick hello to everyone then some dinner and time for a good night’s sleep in the countryside. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t really with us all weekend and we had a lot of rain, but that didn’t dampen the spirits at all. The rally was free and easy, so we just chilled out and did our own thing all weekend, with the exception of the meal on Saturday evening at the Ragley Boat Stop, and the night time ritual of the glass of Baileys or milky coffee in someone’s caravan. We went upstairs when we arrived at the pub, and were joined by other members who unfortunately couldn’t come on the rally due to other commitments, but joined us all for the meal which was great. The evening was a scream we didn’t stop laughing from the minute we got there to the minute we left, all the usual suspects were involved and a great time was had by all, the food was great and the service was very fast. We then returned to the van for a good night’s sleep ready for flag and the pack up to go home. As we mentioned earlier the weather wasn’t great and it made for a cold and wet pack up and tow home, we were glad of a warm up when we arrived home. We would definitely stay here again as we thought the site was great and the company as always is fantastic, it’s so good to be able to spend quality time with nice people, who just want to have fun and use their caravan, that is what the 4c’s is all about friends, fun, laughter and raising money, with some good weather if we are lucky. A big thank you to John and Lynn Beresford for marshaling and their great hospitality and guidance, as always. We will hopefully see you all at Moira Furnace, which is the next rally for us, and that we have good weather for that weekend.

  • RALLYING WHILST WITH RESTRICTIONS

    As from April 12th we can begin our 2021 rally program. We all must abide by what restriction are in place. Six people can meet or two families if the family members exceed six. Please use your sanitiser when ever you think it neccessary, before and after visiting water and elsan points, if you feel you need to wear gloves it is up to each individual to provide them.

    Gloves used at an Elsan point should not be used to acquire drinking water.

    Stay safe and lets make this work and avoid any more lockdowns
